  • The 8th annual Texas pledge bike-ride solely benefiting breast cancer awareness and education.
  • Will include a 12, 23, 34, 47, 63 and new 80 and 100 mile ride for cyclists of all levels.

How to Register:

  • Register online for $30 until September 8, 2013!

In 1991 the Hammond Kiwanis Club successfully inaugurated the Tour de’ Tangipahoa bicycle ride. A large group of cyclists toured the beautiful North Shore countryside and all seemed pleased with this pleasant, yet challenging trek through storied Tangipahoa Parish. This year, the Kiwanis Club is proud to present the 22nd edition of the Tour de Tangipahoa. We just know that you will enjoy participating in this great event that we are trying very hard to make the greatest bicycle tour in the region. We will offer a 30 mile intermediate ride and a challenging 60 mile tour.

  • Tour Starts: September 21, 2013; 7:30 am (6:00 am to register) for 60-mile ride; 9:00 am for 30-mile ride; Jambalaya served at 11:00 am
  • FEES: $35 for 30-mile, 60-mile events ($40 after September 14th)

2013 All-You-Can-Eat Century Ride (36, 50, 61, 67 and 109) @ Madison County High School

“Join us September 21st for the 29th annual edition of the All-You-Can-Eat Century. We’ll be traveling the same great roads of northern Alabama and southern Tennessee since establishing our five new routes in 2011. We have some exciting changes in the works for 2013. Check back for more details.

New for 2013

The All-You-Can-Eat Century is now part of the inaugural Alabama Backroads Century Series. ABCS is a collective of the top century rides in Alabama that challenges riders to complete any four full 100-mile rides throughout the season, and to promote recreational riding throughout the state. Alabama is a well-kept secret of good roads and great riding.

Riders will receive a custom ‘Centurion’ medal for each event completed, a commemorative embroidered patch showing each ride location and recognition as a Centurion on the website on completion of the four rides. It’s a great incentive to get out and ride the roads around the state. Check out the website and plan your season now!

Ride Details

  • Five Routes for Cyclists of All Abilities! Chose from five scenic routes from a moderate 36-mile loop to the challenging 109-mile Century.
  • Times:
    • Registration/Check-in opens 6:30am
    • Course open from 8:00am to 4:30pm
    • 109-mile Century begins at 8:00am
    • 50/62/67-mile rides begin at 8:05am
    • 36 mile ride starts at 9:00am
    • Meal served from 12:00 – 4:30pm

  • Please, no headphones. Helmets must be worn. Field limited to 600 riders.
  • After the ride, enjoy a delicious pasta meal professionally catered by “Nothing But Noodles”. Choose from Basil Pesto with Chicken, Angel Hair Pasta Primavera, or Gluten Free Primavera.

“Each year, dedicated members of the Louisiana EMS community go out into our communities to provide care for those in need during times of crisis. Some of our members do this directly by intervening during a patient’s medical emergency. Some of our members do this indirectly by teaching others to provide care or get involved in the development of EMS systems throughout our State.

Unfortunately, some of these professionals are victims of an untimely death. Whether the loss of our heroes was due to a line of duty death or an untimely death due to illness, the impact from the loss within our profession is no less dramatic.

LANREMT is proud to take the lead in organizing a fund raising event whose purpose is to raise awareness of our fallen members and ensure that their sacrifice and contribution is never forgotten.

How To Participate? Each rider is required to complete the registration form attached. There

2013 Bike MS: Louisiana Ride @ Hammond, LA - McComb, MS

Registration Fee: $30 on July 30th only! Returns to $40 July 31st!
Fundraising Minimum: $275
Age Minimum: 12-16 need a notarized waiver and parental supervision to participate.

The 2013 Bike MS: Louisiana will take place Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. The ride begins at 8:00 AM and starts at the University Center (500 W. University Ave. Hammond, LA 70401) of Southeastern Louisiana University. The route each day is 75 miles and there are six rest stops along the way. On Day 1 participants leave Southeastern Louisiana and head north to Percy Quin State Park in McComb, Mississippi. Upon entering the park, participants are greeted by a Louisiana-style party which includes music, beer and food provided by Chef John Folse! Participants overnight at the park before heading back along the same route on Day 2. The event concludes on Sunday, October 6, at Southeastern Louisiana University where they are again treated to great food and wonderful music.

The route is fully supported with Ride Marshals, Support and Gear (SAG) and Police should you need any assistance along the way. Each rest stop is equipped with a bike shop repairman to assist with any needs that may arise along the route. In the event that you are only able to ride Saturday, transportation is provided back to Hammond, LA around 8:00 PM Saturday evening and again around 8:00 AM Sunday morning following the start of Day 2.

Online registration will close at 5:00 PM Friday, September 20. Early Packet Pick-up will begin September 23 and end September 27. The $275 fundraising minimum must be turned in and/or submitted in order to pick up your packet. Walk-up Registration and Packet Pick-up will be available on Friday, October 4 from 5:00-9:00 PM and again on the day of the event, Saturday, October 5 from 6:00-8:00 AM at the University Center of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA.

Pineywoods Purgatory Tour Map

52 mile route… shows off our lush forests and the rural communities that dot the area. Get directions and elevations.

72 mile route… is our most popular ride! Provides a scenic view of three counties including an iron bridge crossing! Recommended for the experienced cyclist. Get directions and elevations.

102 mile route… wonderfully hilly ride that winds through many small hamlets with names like Sweet Union and Atoy – plus a finish you’ll never forget. Should be attempted by the experienced cyclist only. Get directions and elevations.

Requirements

Helmet Requirement: Helmets are required for all riders. Ansi or Snell approved helmets are strongly recommended.

Age Restrictions: We believe in starting ’em early, but all persons under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Rest Stops

Purgatory rest stops get rave reviews every year! Many of the sponsors return year after year to feed – and entertain – riders with their own unique offerings. The last several years “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” have served mini Belgian waffles to riders at the first of four rest stops on the 25-mile route. For riders on the three longer routes, the Parise Family rest stop is “the place to eat” with lots of great food offerings. Look for cheerleaders, comic characters and other entertainment en route. Each year brings new faces, food and fun!

Safety Rules/Reminders

  1. Every rider must wear a bicycle helmet that complies with the US Consumer Products Safety Commission Safety Standard.

  3. Obey all state and local traffic laws.
  4. All riders must obey all Law Enforcement Personnel, Ride Officials and Volunteers.
  5. No riders under 12 years of age on the 60 and 36 mile routes.

“The Houston Cy-Fair Lions present the 14th Annual Lions Biking for Sight Century Bike Ride on Sunday, October 6th, 2013. The ride begins at 8 AM at the Montgomery Athletic Complex. Cycle through some of the most beautiful Texas landscape in Montgomery and Grimes counties. The 24 mile route takes you past an exotic animal farm, while the 40, 62 and 100 mile routes take you through the Sam Houston National Forest. The 62 and 100 mile routes have hills.

***Please note:  We need 25 riders registered for the 100 mile route by 9/15/13 in order to have this route.  If this route will be cancelled, any riders who have registered for this route will be notified and this website will be updated.

Directions: From Houston, take I-45 north to Conroe. Go west on State Highway 105 across Lake Conroe. Two miles past the intersection of State Highway 105 and FM 149, the athletic Complex will be on the right. Please follow directions for parking.

“Bike Around the Bay 2013 Registration is Now Open!

The event will be held Saturday, October 12 through Sunday, October 13, using the 180-mile, full-loop route around the bay as first implemented in 2012. Bike Around the Bay is a fully supported two-day, 180-mile bicycle ride around Galveston Bay that showcases its natural beauty and benefits the Galveston Bay Foundation. Now in it’s seventh year, Bike Around the Bay began with the goal of bringing people together from all over to see and experience Galveston Bay. Many people are unaware of the rich ecological diversity that is so close in proximity to Houston, and this event was designed to bring awareness of its importance.

Proceeds benefit projects that preserve wetlands, protect natural habitat, and enhance the water quality of the bay for present users and for posterity.

New for 2013

  • The option of a one-day ride, which will include being transported to the start for a minimal additional cost, can be selected during registration. Transportation will leave Moody Gardens on Saturday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 10:30am.
  • GBF is also offering a new “Virtual Rider” option in 2013, allowing non-cyclists (injured riders, GBF volunteers, supporters etc.) to be part of Bike Around the Bay if they’re unable to participate in ride weekend.”
